In case you haven't heard by now, The Roots and Leonard
"Hub" Hubbard have parted ways after 17 long years of
service. Hub has been a staple of The Roots for as far
back as most can remember, with his distinct chewstick and
sleeveless shirt, he will be greatly missed. Check out
this
video or
listen to The Roots toast and thank Hub at his emotional
final performance at moedown earlier this year. Hub,
TheRootsLive.com team wishes you only the best in your
future endeavors and we thank you for the wonderful music
over the years. Be sure to say your goodbyes and share
your memories with The Roots community
here. Now, what better way to celebrate Hub's
tenure than to listen to him and his bandmates at these
amazing shows we have for you this month.
We're back in Montreux again, only this time its 1999 as a
more mature Roots crew returns to the
Montreux Jazz Festival
in Switzerland. A personal favorite show of mine, the
band is in rare form and features special guest appearances
from the lovely Jill Scott
and Craig Harris (did somebody say diggery-doo?). Audiophiles
will be thrilled to learn that this show is soundboard
sourced and is also being offered in the glorious lossless FLAC format over on
Etree.
During the Phrenology tour, The Roots made a visit
to
Creekside Jamboree in Forksville, PA to rock a
killer set. The highlight of the show for me
is their unexpected cover of Sister Nancy's reggae
staple, Bam Bam, in the middle of a jammed
out rendition of You Got Me. Solid show all
around by the hardest working band on the planet.
As promised, the final installment of
The Legendary’s
AOL Broadband Concert
from May 2004 in Los Angeles has been added.
Video of the entire performance can now be
downloaded in 3 parts and we will continue to
supply video from other Roots concerts in future
updates.
We are still trying to hammer out some technical
issues with our server, but we hope to launch some
new features and sections of the site in the near
future.
