In case you haven't heard by now, The Roots and Leonard "Hub" Hubbard have parted ways after 17 long
years of service. Hub has been a staple of The Roots for as far back as most can remember, with his distinct
chewstick and sleeveless shirt, he will be greatly missed. Check out this video or listen
to The Roots toast and thank Hub at his emotional final performance at moedown earlier this year.

Since I been back around the way... A long time... *music fades out*. It's been a while since you heard from us, but we're
proud to say our new server is up and firing on all cylinders (and she's a fast one!) What does that mean for you? New shows,
faster downloads and a whole lot more (which we'll reveal over the coming months). But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves
as this update is no pushover by any means.

We've been gone for a minute, but big improvements are on their way to TheRootsLive in the near future.
In the meantime, we're back to provide you the goods to keep you warm and fuzzy on those cold winter nights.
First, our featured show is from one of The Roots’ favorite spots, the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
Recorded on December 29, 2005, the crew delivered a fantastic set of classics with some assistance from
not only Dice Raw and go-go legends Rare Essence, but also a horns section that makes songs like
“Duck Down!” really stand out.

Alright guys, we know it’s been a while, but we’re taking a break from the summer sunshine and ocean breeze to bring you a
brand-spanking-new update, full of all the goodness you’ve come to expect from TheRootsLive.
Leading off is our featured show from the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, recorded
March 14, 2003. This lovely show, brought together by NYC’s Hot 97 radio station, showcases
The Legendary on their A-game at the height of the Phrenology tour. But if that’s not enough,
they brought some friends with them, including hip-hop veterans Brand Nubian, Nice & Smooth,
and Special Ed, in addition to Skillz, Musiq and Cody ChesnuTT.

The Roots Live has been on a massive hitting streak as of late, and this month is no different. We are glad to hook you guys up with
plenty of that good stuff this month.
Firstly, our staff would like to extend our condolences and blessings to the family, friends, and fans of James Yancey, a.k.a Jay Dilla.
He was a forerunner in hip-hop and was your favorite producer’s favorite producer. As a tribute to him, we’re proud to present a new feature,
An Homage To Jay Dee (1974 – 2006), which is dedicated to his music. We have several rare audio treats including hard to find songs and live
performances and DJ sets, plus the exclusive Live Tribute to Jay Dee, presented by DJ Illipse.

Ho, Ho, Ho...Boy does Santa have some goodies for you this month. We are proud to present 2 hot shows to keep you warm on those brisk
winter nights this holiday season. What is the first show you ask? The Blue Note in Nagoya, Japan!?! But I already own this, you say...
well, you are sort of correct. Did you know that the version you may own is of the wrong disc, which was accidentally sent to be pressed?
This CD was inferior quality and the track list on the CD art didn't match the album. Well, don't worry because we got your back...

It has been a been a busy month for the hardest working band in Hip-Hop. The Roots recently
held a benefit concert for Katrina victims at the prestigious Kimmel Center in Philadelphia
last month. It was an important night of the band's career, not only to raise awareness of
the hurricane's devastation, but it also marked the first time a Hip-Hop act played at the
illustrious venue.
